Maui Divers Jewelry produces naturally inspired gold & coral jewelry. Their design team engaged CFL to assist with digitization of thousands of hand-made wax blanks in an effort to parametrically eliminate excess volume, lowering costs while preserving the aesthetics.
CFL developed & codified a series of workflows to scan and reconstruct clean, sparse digital models and selectively thin them.
This interest in low-mass, organic shapes led CFL to develop a toolset generating volume filling organic space frame structures from simple design inputs. These tools produce beautiful, low volume branching patterns to replace otherwise solid forms.
